Which Arcanas Went Up the Most Since They Hit the Market?
By Kevin ·

You hear it all the time: “arcanas are an investment.” I nodded along to that for far too long without ever looking it up. Today I looked it up. 🤓
The test is simple: what did an arcana cost in its first week on the Steam Market, and what does it cost now (October 7, 2026)? No feelings, no “my buddy said”, just the two numbers.
The full scoreboard
| Arcana | On Steam since | First week | Now | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| July 2025 | $77.60 | $95.44 | +23.0% | |
| February 2015 | $21.97 | $26.10 | +18.8% | |
| April 2025 | $14.78 | $17.41 | +17.8% | |
| March 2014 | $27.95 | $32.12 | +14.9% | |
| March 2026 | $83.60 | $93.63 | +12.0% | |
| April 2025 | $14.70 | $15.88 | +8.0% | |
| December 2023 | $207.28 | $206.35 | -0.4% | |
| February 2019 | $27.87 | $25.54 | -8.4% | |
| February 2015 | $22.47 | $19.56 | -13.0% | |
| January 2014 | $26.31 | $22.26 | -15.4% | |
| February 2017 | $23.61 | $19.75 | -16.3% | |
| February 2019 | $28.16 | $23.19 | -17.6% | |
| December 2019 | $33.59 | $26.89 | -19.9% | |
| September 2013 | $29.29 | $23.36 | -20.2% | |
| March 2015 | $20.51 | $16.23 | -20.9% | |
| January 2016 | $27.76 | $21.61 | -22.2% | |
| April 2018 | $33.65 | $18.80 | -44.1% | |
| February 2015 | $34.73 | $18.19 | -47.6% |
Both numbers are Steam Community Market sale prices: the average of the first week, and the current level of our price history. For the three bundle-only arcanas it is the price of the bundle.
6 of 18 are up. 12 are down. So much for “arcanas only go up”. If this were a ranked match, the investment team would be losing.

6 of 18 arcanas are above their first week on Steam. So are they an investment? I checked. It is complicated.
The winners 🏆
Compass of the Rising Gale is the champion: +23.0%, from $77.60 in July 2025 to $95.44 today. Right behind it: Swine of the Sunken Galley with +18.8%.
Did anybody see that coming? If you say yes, I want to see your purchase history. 😄

Formula: 50 + 2 × the average price move of all tradable arcanas (%) + 40 × (share of arcanas up − ½), 0 to 100. Real prices only, no opinions.
Since their first week on Steam
First-week average against today, all 18 tradable arcanas, October 7, 2026.
The… not winners 💀
Demon Eater is down 47.6%: $34.73 in its first week, $18.19 now. Feast of Abscession is not far behind with -44.1%. Ouch.
Buying those in week one was like buying a Divine Rapier at minute fifteen. Brave. Exciting. And then somebody else walks away with your money.
What I take from this
Three things jumped at me, and none of them is financial advice (I can barely manage my own gold in game):
- The bundle-only ones are a mixed bag. Fluttering Breeze +23.0%, Intergalactic Orbliterator +12.0%, King Kringle -0.4%. These are the three that cost over $100, and I wrote down why they are so expensive.
- The newest listings did well. Of the five arcanas that reached the market last, 4 are above their first week. Does that mean the next new one goes up too? No idea. Really. Nobody knows.
- The old store arcanas are no gold mine. 12 of the 13 arcanas that cost $34.99 in the Dota Store are listed below that price on Steam today.
So are arcanas an investment? Some were. Most were a skin. And honestly, a skin is a fine thing to buy if you like looking at it for 500 games.
If you just want to see where prices are heading as a whole, that is what our Arcana Index is for. And if you want the best price today, the cheapest arcanas list does the work for you.
Which one did you buy at the top? Come on, we have all done it. 😅
GL HF! ✌️
The usual: this is Kevin having opinions about pixels, not financial advice. Prices move, sometimes in the wrong direction. You buy at your own risk.
